What JapaneseHomePicks Is

JapaneseHomePicks is an independent editorial website for people in the United States who want practical ways to organize kitchens and make better use of limited space.

Our initial focus is Japanese kitchen organization and small-space kitchens. We look at storage methods and space-saving ideas that can be seen in Japan, then ask a more important question: will the underlying idea work in a U.S. home?

How We Evaluate Ideas

Japanese and U.S. homes can differ in cabinet dimensions, appliance sizes, plumbing, electrical access, wall construction, floor plans, product availability, and everyday use. We do not assume that a product or method that works in one setting will transfer directly to another.

Before recommending an approach, we aim to examine:

  • the measurements a reader should take before buying;
  • the structure of the product and how it is supported;
  • installation and clearance requirements;
  • conditions that may prevent the product from fitting or working;
  • who is likely to benefit and who may be better served by another option; and
  • U.S. product listings, manufacturer information, and housing conditions relevant to the decision.

Measurements in an article are decision aids, not a substitute for measuring the reader's own kitchen. Product dimensions and specifications can also change, so readers should confirm current information before purchasing.

Our Editorial Approach

Our goal is to help readers make informed purchase decisions, not simply to promote products. An article should still be useful even if the reader decides not to buy anything.

We prioritize selection criteria and product structure before brand names. We aim to explain advantages, limitations, installation failures, and alternatives in plain language. We separate facts from estimates or editorial judgment, and we say when information could not be confirmed.

The word “Japanese” in our name describes the perspective we investigate. It is not a claim that every Japanese home uses the same product or method. We avoid unsupported cultural generalizations and do not use “Japanese” as a shortcut for quality, authenticity, or universal suitability.

Independence and Commercial Relationships

JapaneseHomePicks is operated by the JapaneseHomePicks Editorial Team. It is an independently operated editorial site. It is not operated by Amazon, Google, Pinterest, or any manufacturer, retailer, or brand mentioned in our content.
